SkinPen
SkinPen is our advanced microneedling device. Designed to create tiny micro-injuries in the skin, SkinPen stimulates natural tissue regeneration to assist in the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and surgical scars through collagen induction therapy.
KEY BENEFITS
Each treatment utilises a sterile cartridge housing tiny microneedles, which can be customised in depth to suit individual needs. The CIT (collagen induction therapy) process breaks down old and damaged strands of collagen, stimulating the skin to produce new, stronger strands. SkinPen is the only TGA-approved needling device in Australia meaning that its treatment claims have been qualified by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
Common questions
What conditions can it treat?
SkinPen can treat a wide range of problems, including acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, and is typically utilised on the face, neck and décolletage.
How is the procedure performed?
After thoroughly cleansing your skin, your practitioner will create a sterile field for the treatment. This includes specialised wrapping of the SkinPen and an individual treatment cartridge that houses 12 micro-needles for each session. A specialised gel is applied to the skin to assist in the glide of the pen and hydration of the skin. The SkinPen is then gently glided across the skin, treating each section three times to maximise the Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) process. As the practitioner moves across your skin, they adjust the needle depth for targeted skin regeneration.
What areas can I treat?
At Lasers in Medicine, we use the SkinPen on the face, neck and décolletage.
What does it feel like?
The feeling associated with CIT is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip makes the treatment comfortable.
Who is a candidate for this treatment?
Skins of any colour can undertake the SkinPen treatment making it a versatile treatment option for skins of colour. We always recommend undertaking a skin consultation prior to undergoing treatments to ensure your treatment plan is personalised and supportive of your skin goals.
